Research Field

The winner of the 2007 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics, Eric S. Maskin, shared with the University of Minnesota's Leonid Hurwicz and The University of Chicago's Roger Myerson, for laying the foundations of mechanism design theory. Maskin has made contributions to game theory, contract theory, social choice theory, political economy, voting theory, and other areas of economics. He is well known for his papers on mechanism design, implementation theory, and dynamic game theory. His current research projects include comparing different electoral rules, examining the causes of inequality, and studying coalition formation.
