Professor Qian's main research areas include comparative economics, institutional economics, economics of transition and the Chinese economy. He is the author of the book How Reform Worked in China: The Transition from Plan to Market (The MIT Press, 2017) and has published articles in many international journals. He has made important contributions to the study of China's economic reform with the analytical method in modern economics. His studies have become important literature in the fields of comparative economics, institutional economics and economics of transition.
